The court scene in the book, To Kill a Mockingbird is a very important part of the plot. This passage of the book shows us how good of a man Atticus is, and how he is respectful and polite to everyone, whether they deserve it or not. An example of this is on page 253, when Atticus tells his kids that a white man who cheats a black man is trash. On the other hand, this court scene also shows us that small-minded people can be very cruel and unfair to people that aren’t exactly the same as them. There is proof of this when Atticus stands up for black people, basically saying how they’re treated isn’t right, and tells the court how it’s obvious Tom isn’t guilty, but people still accuse him because he’s black, and that's how people in their society treat black people. Obviously people are very unfair because they don’t even look at the evidence or the trial, they just pronounce Tom guilty. So, these are a few reasons why this court scene is very important, and it tells us about Atticus’s character and proves that some people are racist and unfair.

Beautiful. Just beautiful. It brought tears to my eye. But really, it was good and I think you did a good job of following the steps. You might want to change some of the vocabulary, though. O by the way this is from steph if you didn’t already know.

Leslie said: I really liked your paragraph. I’m not sure if it all the way followed the format, but it was still really great. It explained everything that it was supposed to. I think there might be some punctuation in the wrong spot and some misspelled words. This was an awesome paragraph and I like your thinking.
